Objectives
The primary aims of EURoma are the sharing of strategies, initiatives and approaches, learning based on experience and best practices, and the dissemination and standardisation of such knowledge.
In line with these objectives, two working lines are undertaken:
- Transmission and exchange of information, through internal and external communication channels
- Mutual learning: sharing of approaches and strategies, identification and transfer of experiences, creation of a forum for the organisation and management of projects, development of common and transversal products.
History
History
12 EU Member States participate in the Network
There are two representatives in each of the partner countries:
- The European Social Fund Managing Authority or the administrative body to which the latter delegates its authority; and
- The body of the Member State responsible for policies targeting the Roma community or the body to which it delegates its authority.
Current participating States in the Network (2008) include: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Slovakia and Sweden.
How it works
Network operation is based on three institutional pillars: the Management Committee, Working Groups and the Technical Secretariat.
- The Management Committee (MC).
- The Working Groups are the most effective means of promoting the Network's Mutual Learning working line.
- The Technical Secretariat acts as Administrative and Communications Coordinator.
Working Groups
Three Working Groups have been created, focusing respectively on Education, Employment and Social Inclusion. Their main objectives are:
- to share specific information on concrete issues (education, employment, social inclusion);
- to generate a pool of knowledge and instruments (assessment indicators, management tools, etc.) to standardise experiences and to transfer best practices;
- to propose and organise actions (seminars, conferences, study visits, awareness-raising actions, etc.) fostering specialisation and the training of key agents;
- to provide non-Network member organisations an opportunity to participate in information sharing and other actions.

Technical Secretariat
The Technical Secretariat acts as Administrative and Communications Coordinator and is managed by the Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG)
