The Czech government, on 21st of December 2009, unanimously approved a plan for Romany integration for 2010-2013 submitted by Minister for Human Rights and Ethnic Minorities, Michael Kocab.

This plan contains guidelines for local administration authorities. The main focus is on creating equal work and education opportunities for the Romany minority and preventing their ghettoization.                 
 

The vision of the programme is that Finland will be in 2017 a forerunner in Europe in promoting the equal treatment and inclusion of the Roma population. The overall objective of Finland’s first National Policy on Roma is to promote their inclusion and equal treatment in different spheres of life by mainstreaming the promotion of equal treatment and non-discrimination into different functions in society.

The Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) is organising next 20^th of January in Madrid, Spain, a Seminar on Roma Migration.

It will focus on the work that is being developed for FSG in various Spanish cities with Roma migrants mainly from Romania and Bulgaria. A second part of the seminar will concentrate on the European institutions who have a say in this matter, as well as a block devoted to some experiences on the ground run by NGOs from different countries.

In the context of this recently released results of the FRA's EU MIDIS 2009 survey and other FRA reports, issues of particular note include the situation of Roma, access to justice and other basic rights, as well as freedom of movement. Alarming statistics reveal that many vulnerable groups are unaware of the rights to which they are entitled under EU and national anti-discrimination legislation.

The Network on Major European Cities (EUROCITIES) held a meeting last 4-5th November 2009 on how cities can work with Roma communities. The meeting was a working group session with city practitioners discussing practical aspects.
