Spain, Structural Funds and Roma

In addition to the actions undertaken regionally, at the national level Spain is currently undertaking the Multi-objective Operational Programme “Fight Against Discrimination 2007- 2013”

In addition to the actions undertaken regionally (check www.mtin.es/uafse - Regional Operational Programmes), at the national level the Multi-objective Operational Programme (OP) “Fight Against Discrimination 2007- 2013” 2007ESO5UPO002 is among Spain's priority axes (Priority 2: To enhance employability, social inclusion and equal opportunities for men and women, Priority 4: To promote transnational and inter-regional co-operation; Priority 5: Technical assistance). Through this OP, Spain is undertaking the following actions aimed at the Roma population:

  1. Personalised labour insertion pathways.
  2. Promotion of social economy enterprises for people excluded from the labour market.
  3. Support social responsibility among enterprises in favour of social inclusion.
  4. Preventive actions, follow-up and monitoring in order to fight against youth school-leaving. 
  5. Professional training formulas adapted to the specific needs of the target group and the demand of the labour market.
  6. Accompanying measures and social intervention for Roma immigrants.
  7. Sensitising campaigns aimed at raising awareness on diversity in the social and labour contexts.
  8. Observatories, studies and entrepreneurial prospecting on exclusion issues.

At the regional level,  5 regions are undertaking actions aimed at the Roma population: Andalucía, Cataluña, Extremadura, Galicia and Murcia. The main actions, within priorities 1 and 2 (to enhance entrepreneurship and the adaptability of companies and employers, and to enhance employability, social inclusion and equal opportunities for men and women), included in their programmes are:
