EURoma Network meets in May in Bratislava

The EURoma Network held its half-yearly meeting in May in Bratislava hosted by the Slovak partners. It brought together over 55 participants to discuss a wide range of topics related to Roma and Structural Funds which are currently on the European agenda.

Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU - Developing European Roma Policy

Contribution of EU funds to the Roma inclusion: high level events

Medium-term concept of the Roma minority development was approved by Slovak Government

Since July 2008 the Decade of Roma Inclusion Presidency is held by Serbia

The Decade of Roma Inclusion (2005-2015) presidency is held annually by a participating Decade country according to a rotating schedule. Since July is the Serbian turn, the first non-EU country. Decade goals are to close the unacceptable gaps between Roma and the rest of society and to work toward elimination of discrimination through development and implementation of National Action Plans.

FRA’s report: “Incident Report – Violent Attacks Against Roma in the Ponticelli district of Naples, Italy”

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) commissioned the report: “Incident Report – Violent Attacks Against Roma in the Ponticelli district of Naples, Italy” with the aim to bring together the basic facts on the anti-Roma events which occurred in Italy during May – June 2008. The purpose of the report is to provide the Community and its Member States with a factual overview of the situation during these months in Italy.

European Network for Structural Funds and the Roma Comunnity

Seville, 22-23 January 2008

January 2008 twelve countries of the EU together with a wide representation of the European Commission launched in Seville (Spain) a transnational Network aiming at the promotion of the use of Structural Funds (SF) to enhance the effectiveness of policies targeting the Roma and their social inclusion.
