The third meeting of the “Integrated Platform for Roma Inclusion" took place on 17th June in Brussels organised by the Spanish Presidency and the European Commission.
After presenting recent developments under the Spanish Presidency and at European level, the idea of this meeting was to progress on a medium term roadmap for the Platform (as called the last Council Conclusions). Roma experts, European Commissions delegates, Member States governments and civil society representatives participated to contribute in this initiative. EURoma as a key player has participated as well, providing its experience.
The Integrated European Platform for Roma Inclusion defined three central functions: i) exchange of good practice and experience between Member States in the field of Roma inclusion; ii) Provision of analytical support; and iii) encouragement of cooperation between all interested parties on all Roma-related issues. It ought to be emphasised that the Platform is a dynamic process.
During this third meeting to define a roadmap of the Platform, it was idenfied key issues to be addressed, the working methods, outputs to be produced and their dissemination and impact assessment. The participants concern was mainly focus on assuring the continuity and sustainability of this Platform, proposed to be followed by each Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
