NGOs ask to be consulted in drafting process of European Framework for National Roma Strategies

17 February 2011

On 15 February 2010, a group of European and Hungarian Romani and non-Romani organisations, including the Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) as a member of the European Roma Policy Coalition (ERPC), sent a letter to the Hungarian government, which current holds the presidency of the EU, and the European Commission, asking for an open consultation process with NGOs regarding the upcoming European Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies.

Acknowledging the important commitment made both by the Hungarian Presidency and the European Commission to launch next April a European strategic framework, a request made by NGOs, and notably the ERPC, since a long time ago, the signatories of the letter ask for the setting up of a calendar of regular meetings which allows for the participation and consultations of civil society representatives in the preparation process.
