Structural Funds: Investing in Roma
Brussels, Nov. 30th
The key objective of the conference aimed at highlighting the need for transparency and accountability when implementing initiatives targeting the Roma population at different levels and the importance of having effective evaluation and monitoring mechanisms.
On November 30th, the Directorate General of Regional Policy (DG Regio) of the European Commission organized a seminar in Brussels on Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects and Policies aimed at Roma.
This seminar gathered key players currently working in the field of policies and projects targeting this minority in Europe, many representatives of the European Commission (both the DG of Regional Development and the DG for Employment and Social Affairs), representatives from European countries, the World Bank, UNDP, UNICEF, the European Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the Open Society, the Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG), the Roma Education Fund (REF), among other.
The agenda was devoted not only to debate a variety of assessment and evaluation methods and good practices in the field of policies and projects targeting Roma inclusion; but also it deepened on how particular projects such as the Pilot Project for Roma inclusion, could become part of result-oriented policy.
