Spain announces the 2nd European Roma Summit during the 2010 EU Spanish Presidency

The Summit will take place in Córdoba on the 8th April 2010 (International Roma Day). Spanish Minister of Education, Social Policy and Sports, Mercedes Cabrera, made this announcement during the Conference ''Facing the future: key factors in the development of the Roma population''

I Roma Summit - 2008

In the framework of the Council of Europe Spanish Chairmanship, a Conference on ''Facing the future: key factors in the development of the Roma population'' was held in Seville on 24 and 25 March. The conference was focused on four levels of action concerning Roma issues: European, national, regional and local. Topics such as the participation of Roma in public life, education and training of young Roma, the role of Roma women in society and equal treatment without discrimination were discussed from a practical angle in round tables, based on the experience of the different countries and organisations represented.
