EURoma partners meet in Bucharest to review relevant developments for Roma equality and inclusion
|
|
|
Roxana Mînzatu, the European Commission's Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Quality Employment, took part (via video message) in the opening of the meeting hosted by Romanian partners. She emphasised the importance of EU financial instruments in contributing to efforts within the EU to achieve real change in the situation of Roma people, in line with the EU Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies.

EURoma and Eurochild joint report on the consideration of Roma children in Child Guarantee implementation
|
|
|
The EURoma Network and Eurochild have joined forces to review how, and to what extent, Roma children are considered in the biennial implementation reports of the European Child Guarantee in the 15 EURoma partner countries. Based on the analysis's findings, recommendations are put forward to strengthen the use of this instrument in overcoming child poverty and social exclusion among Roma children by 2030.

|
Investments in social cohesion are maintained but the decline in the share of social investments (mainly ESF+) compared to other priorities raises concerns about the capacity to address the persistent inequality gaps faced by Roma and other groups.

|
The objective is to align investments with the EU's current strategic priorities, while introducing flexibility and incentives to encourage Member States and regions to invest in them. The focus on reducing economic, social and territorial disparities is maintained.

|
Although the Presidency’s programme does not specifically mention Roma, various Council configurations will address issues relevant to EU Funds and to Roma equality and inclusion (in areas such as education, housing, children and discrimination).

Country Reports, including Specific Recommendations, are released for each EU Member States. While some reports make references to Roma, attention to Roma equality and inclusion remains limited and inconsistent across countries.
