The EURoma Network held its half-yearly meeting in the city of Budapest, hosted by the Hungarian partners. The meeting gathered some 70 participants, including Structural Funds Managing Authorities and public bodies in charge of Roma policies from the 12 Member States currently in the Network, as well as European Commission’s representatives and other relevant stakeholders, and EURoma Technical Secretariat.
Under the theme “The role of stakeholders in making the EU Framework a success”, the Platform met on 17th-18th November. The use of Structural Funds for Roma integration was high on the agenda.
Published by the Directorate-General Justice, the publication "Working together for Roma inclusion" provides guidance on the key elements of the EU Framework for national Roma integration strategies adopted in April.
European Commission's DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion released an evaluation of the ESF support for enhancing access to the labour market and the social inclusion of migrants and ethnic minorities, including Roma.
The use of EU funds and Roma was one of the key topics discussed at the Equality Summit co-organised by the EU Polish Presidency and the European Commission on 14th-15th November in Poznan (Poland).
Organised by the European Commission with the Polish EU Presidency, the first annual convention of the European Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion was held on 17th-18th October in Krakow (Poland).
With the aim of addressing the situation of European Roma, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe organised a Summit of Mayors on Roma in Strasbourg (France) on 22nd September.
On 6th October the European Commission adopted a legislative package setting the rules for the Union’s cohesion policy and its financial instruments in the 2014-2020 period. Social inclusion, the fight against poverty and social exclusion and the social aspects in general are reinforced in the proposals.
