First European Summit on Roma
On September 16th took place in Brussels and under the auspices of the Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and the French Presidency of the European Union, the first European Summit on Roma organized by the DG for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission.
Open Days: Getting European Institutions Closer

From 7th to 9th October 2008 Brussels welcomed a European Week of Regions and Cities. In this ocassion the EURoma Network was presented. The OPEN DAYS is an event co-organised by the Committee of Regions and the Commission's DG for Regional Policy to attract a wide range of participants who want to know a bit more about what is happening in the EU, why it matters and how it affects their local community.

OSCE HDI Meeting - Implementation of Action Plan on Roma and sustainable policies
The OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) organizes yearly the Human Dimension Implementation (HDI) meeting.
7th European Round Table on Poverty and Social Exclusion
Marseille, 15 - 16 October, 2008. Anually organized by the European Commission and the European Network Against Poverty
EC Recommendation Adopted on Active Inclusion
Last October 3rd the European Commission published specific principles to guide Member States of the European Union in their definition of policies for 'active inclusion' of people excluded from the labour market so as to “facilitate the integration into sustainable, quality employment of those who can work and provide resources which are sufficient to live in dignity, together with support for social participation, for those who cannot”.
Since July 2008 the Decade of Roma Inclusion Presidency is held by Serbia
The Decade of Roma Inclusion (2005-2015) presidency is held annually by a participating Decade country according to a rotating schedule. Since July is the Serbian turn, the first non-EU country. Decade goals are to close the unacceptable gaps between Roma and the rest of society and to work toward elimination of discrimination through development and implementation of National Action Plans.

OSCE-Status Report on the implementation of the Action Plan for Roma
The OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) drafted in 2003 an Action Plan for Roma addressed to the 56 OSCE participating States aiming at the improvent of the situation of Roma and Sinti.

This international organisation has just recently published a Status Report 2008 where it analyses to what extent the Plan is being accomplished by Governments up to date.
